Top clubs dominant in latest 1st Division action

Tex Whitelock (GTSC) & Mark Ebanks (Future SC) scored a combined 7 goals.

Future Sports Club, George Town Sports Club and Cayman Brac FC all put in dominant performances in the latest round of the 2016-17 CIFA First Division season on 25 February.

In the first game at the Annex, second-placed George Town SC met Alliance FC, which came into the clash third in the standings. After a scoreless first half, the flood gates opened with Tex Whitelock scoring in the 48th, 64th, 81st and in injury time, as Alliance had no answer for the George Town forward. Javier Medina scored in the 56th for Alliance. In the end, it was George Town easily taking three points from the 4-1 win.

Next on the pitch were leaders Future SC and North Side SC, which entered the weekend fourth in the standings. Colby Ebanks led the charge with a brace after 10 minutes of play, while Mark Ebanks continued his dominant form with a hat-trick to keep Future on top. His goals came in the 6th, 54th and 72nd minutes. Scoring for North Side in their 5-2 loss were Robert Bryan and Phearron Thompson.

Meantime, Cayman Brac FC didn’t play the role of welcoming hosts when Savannah Tigers visited the sister island. Ebo Eccleston got himself a hat-trick with goals in the 26th, 55th and 64th minutes; Brian Martin added two in the 14th and 75th; and Devaughn Carter finished things off with a goal in the 85th minute to give Cayman Brac FC the 6-0 win.

With the latest results, the race for automatic promotion to the Cayman Premier Division gets tighter between Future SC and George Town SC.
