Junior tennis can count on PwC

The Tennis Federation of the Cayman Islands and PwC Cayman Islands have hit an ace with their partnership to develop junior tennis locally.
For the ninth year, PwC has sponsored the federation with the money ($10,000) supporting the national junior circuit, in which players in three age divisions (10 and under, 14&U and 18&U) compete for national ranking points in a series of tournaments throughout each year. About 40 youngsters take part in the series, which culminates in a Master’s Championship towards the end of the year.
The top three ranked players in each division get the chance to join the Elite Squad, also funded through PwC’s sponsorship. The squad is run by coach Dale Avery of the Cayman Islands Tennis Club in South Sound. During 90-minute training sessions on Friday afternoons, players work on technical, tactical, physical and mental aspects of the game.
“We are delighted that PwC has continued to support our juniors. This year we have had many new young players competing in the 10 and under division. Throughout the age groups the parents and spectators at each tournament have seen some nail biting matches and the level of play across the board is improving year on year,” said CITF President Susan Lindsay.
Craig Smith, Partner, PwC Cayman Islands added “We are very proud to be associated with this series and the efforts being made by the Tennis Federation. It’s quite rewarding to see the number of kids coming through and the strides being made. We look forward to the program’s continued success.”
Round 6 of the 2017 PwC Junior Tennis Circuit will take place on the weekend of 29 September to 1 October at the Ritz-Carlton.
All players must pay the tournament fee of CI$25.00 at the tournament desk on Tuesday 26 September between 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Ritz-Carlton Tennis Shop. Players and parents will also need to sign the PwC Jr Tennis Waiver and hand it in at time of payment.
