Elite women continue unbeaten run

Elite Sports Club picked up a fourth win in as many weeks to open up a six-point lead the standings of the 2017/18 CIFA Women’s League.
Elite SC beat George Town Sports Club 12-0 on Sunday, 25 February with four goals coming from teenager Tamoy Phillips and hat-tricks from Shanice Monteith and Shanelle Frederick.
Phillips’ found the back of the net in the 28th, 68th, 73rd, and 84th minutes. Monteith, who opened the scoring, had goals in the 17th, 20th and 49th minutes. Frederick’s goals were in the 78th, 86th and 89th minutes.
Other scorers were Ashanti Reid in the 50th minute and Brianna Poy-Fong in the 82nd minute.
Elite SC, which won the league, FA Cup and President’s Cup trophies last season, sports an impressive goal difference of 26 for and a lone goal against. However, 22 of those goals have come in two games against George Town, which has strung together a team for this season.
In the weekend’s other game, Shalyse Reddicks provided the winner in the 73rd minute for Sunset Football Club against Scholars International.
Maralynn Mulvihill put Sunset ahead 10 minutes before the half but Bianca Hunt ensured the teams would take a break tied when she scored four minutes later.
Sunset FC and Scholars International both have two wins and two losses at this stage, but Sunset have a one-goal advantage when it comes to scoring difference.
George Town is winless so far in their return to the women’s competition.
In the next round of games, George Town SC and Sunset FC meet at Ed Bush Sports Complex on Saturday, 3 March at 7:00 p.m. Scholars International and Elite Sports Club meet at the same venue 24 hours later.
