Brac’s Martin leads Warner University to win
- Updated: 30 October 2016
Cayman Brac’s Brian Martin scored a brace to lead his US collegiate side to their first win of the season on Saturday, 29 October, 2016
Martin opened the scoring for the Warner University Royals against Ava Maria (Fla.) in the 22nd minute and followed up with another in the 80th minute. The Royals beat Ava Maria 4-1.
Martin’s three goals in his last four games leads the Royals in scoring this season. The defender’s other tally came against Florida Memorial University two weeks ago.
The Warner University Royals have struggled this season with a 1-15 record, 1-7 in Sun Conference play and are ninth place out of 10 teams – ahead of Ava Maria. Their final game of the season is on Tuesday, 1 November.
A senior, Martin had led the Lake Wales-based Royals as one of their captains for the past three season. He has four career goals for the school that competes in Division 1 of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
He has been a key member locally of Cayman Brac FC, which is looking forward to his return later in the season. The team begins the 2016-17 CIFA First Division on 5 November against Savannah Tigers at the Annex starting at 8:00 p.m.
