- Updated: 19 September 2016
Joshewa Frederick, a member of the Cayman Islands National U20 Men’s football team, has won accolades for his play at his US college.
The 19 year-old centre back was selected at the Northwest Tech Spotlight Athlete for the hard work he has contributed on the field and off with the men’s soccer program.
“In the Mavericks two exhibition matches, Josh stepped up and led his team. Josh is highly skilled and has no ceiling to the things he will be able to accomplish this season,” a posting on the school’s website stated.
“Josh has played extremely well in both preseason games and hopes to carry over into the regular season. Mavericks soccer expect big things from Josh this year on and off the field, and so far, the men’s soccer staff couldn’t be prouder!”
The Northwest Tech Mavericks play in the Jayhawk Conference of the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division I. The team has won two of their first four games, losing one and drawing the other. Their next game is Tuesday, 20 September against Hesston College.
The 6’3” defender, who attended John Gray High School, is studying Sports Management at the college in Goodland, Kansas.
