Free training for new football refs
- Updated: 29 September 2017
In a bid to get more officials in the middle and patrolling the touch line, the Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) is offering free training for those interested in being referees and assistant referees for local leagues.
A six-day Referee Beginners Course will be held on weekdays from 8-15 October to offer training to those individuals who wish to become certified as referee and assistant referee and officiate in local football leagues.
Participants will be exposed to the intricacies of the laws of the game, including the offside rule, fouls and misconduct, match management, referee techniques, report writing and fitness techniques.
Afternoon classroom sessions will be held at the George Town Primary School and the Tuesday evening practical will be held at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex.
The course is free of charge and interested males and females between the ages of 18-33 are encouraged to call the CIFA Office at 949-5775 or email Mr. Kenville Holder, Head of CIFA Refereeing Department at villan47@hotmail.com to register.
