Aaron Jarvis, one of Cayman’s top junior golfers, finished tied for third in the AJGA Preview at Seagate Golf Club, Delray Beach, Florida on 14-15 April 2018.

Jarvis played in the Age 15 and Under division, with a field of 50 junior golfers, and shot back-to-back rounds of 78 on a 6,855 yard course over two days. With calm winds in Round 1, he played a solid round and was tied for 10th on the leaderboard.

Day Two brought much harder conditions with 30 mile an hour winds and rain showers. Demonstrating determination, patience and discipline, Jarvis held on strongly with another 78, finishing his round with an eagle and a birdie in the last four holes to move up to place 3rdoverall with Joshua Stewart of Florida. Another Sunshine State golfer, Jackson Kustin and Japanese golfer Shoichiron Sakamoto tied atop the leaderboard.

It has an annual junior membership (boys and girls, ages 12-19) of more than 6,900 members from 50 states and 60 foreign countries.

The AJGA fosters the growth of golf’s next generation through initiatives like the Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant, a financial assistance program, and Leadership Links, a service-oriented platform that teaches juniors charitable-giving skills.
