Morgan, Lewis take podium finishes
- Updated: 1 February 2018
Cayman Islands athletes Pearl Morgan (twice) and Tajh Lewis finished on the podium for their universities at two separate collegiate meets in the United States during January.
Morgan, competing for Central Methodist University Eagles at the Snow Bird Open in Jacksonville, Illinois on 17 January, took home first place in the women’s 200m with a time of 26.53 seconds. Her time was more than half a second better than second-placed Heather Hughes of Truman State.
The sophomore from Bodden Town also won the 4x400m relay team along with teammates Theresa Zenhle, Mattie Bradley and Rachel Lipsey. They crossed the line in 4:16.77. Morgan was also fourth in the 60m.
Morgan is back on the track at the Jim Green Invite this weekend (3 February).
Meantime, Lewis, a junior for Southeastern Louisiana University, finished second in the 600m at the McNeese Indoor Invite II on 26 January. He finished in 1:22.72, just behind Terril Banks of McNeese State (1:22.52).
He’s expected back on the track for the LSU Bayou Bengal meet on 2 February.
