National Jr golf team announced

The Cayman Islands Golf Association has announced the team that will represent the Cayman Islands at the 2018 Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championships hosted by the Caymanas Golf Club in Spanish Town, Jamaica, from 3-7 July.
The team, training under the guidance of coach Tim Dwyer, was selected based on the results of the RSM Junior National Team Qualifiers in Grand Cayman held between November 2017 and February 2018. Aaron Jarvis was named team captain, and Justin Hastings assistant captain.
Aaron Jarvis will be playing in his fifth Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championships, having won the U13 tournament in 2016 in Barbados, and finishing second in the U15 category last year in Trinidad. He will also be representing Cayman at The Junior Open at St. Andrews, Scotland from 16-18 July, and has earned a spot on the Cayman Men’s National Team to compete in the 2018 Caribbean Amateur Golf Championship being hosted by Cayman Islands Golf Association from 31st July to 3rd August at the North Sound Golf Club.
For Justin Hastings, this will be his sixth year representing Cayman in the Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championships. He placed second in the U13 category in 2015, 2016 and 2017. Justin has qualified to play in the IMG Junior World Championship in San Diego, California. He was the youngest player in the Latin America Amateur Championship held in Chile in 2018 – where he played all four days having made the cut. He too has earned a spot on the Men’s National Team for the 2018 Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships.
Tom Dickens will be playing in the U15 category in his first Caribbean Amateur Junior Championships.
Andy Hastings & Todd Purton will represent the Cayman Islands for the second and first time respectively at these championships in the Boys 11-13 Division.
Holly McLean & Lauren Needham will play for the Cayman Islands in the Girls 11-13 Division. Holly represented the Cayman Islands in the 2016 and 2017 Junior Championships and will also represent Cayman at The Junior Open at St. Andrews, Scotland in July. This is Lauren’s first time at this championship.
Cayman Islands Golf Association President Paul Woodhouse said in a press release that he is pleased to be sending a competitive team to the Championships. “This year’s junior team has a great mix of experienced internationals and new players who have worked hard over the year to gain their places. Junior golf development in Cayman is going from strength to strength as evidenced by these accomplished young players.”
