Week 10 of the FLOW 2016 Cayman Islands Flag Football Premier League completed its week of games. As the season is quickly coming to an end all teams are vying for a spot in the semifinals with hopes to win the championship.
Kicking off the day on Saturday August 27, 2016 was Guinness Lady Sharks and Maples Lynx. With each teams having a statement to make both teams was determined to win. Offensively Lady Sharks had a better game as QB Bobeth O’Garro found receivers Marleena Smith and Scimone Chin which allowed them to progress the ball more. Lady sharks are currently in second place and they fought to keep their ranking into the semi- finals; however, Maples Lynx defense players like Racquel Brown with two interceptions and Sophia Dilbert with multiple tackles showed why they are also in the top rankings for the semifinals. Both teams struggled to get a touchdown which allowed the game to go into overtime. Lynx QB Anya Edun ran in for the touchdown giving them the win. The game ended with a 6-0 score.
The second game of the day was with the first ranking team Island Heritage Predators vs and last ranking team PWC. To no surprise both teams did exactly what spectators expected, PWC to play with determination and IH Predators to show good sportsmanship. PWC played with determination which showed that even though they are currently in the last ranking position they are still a team with talent. Players such as Jaryd Bodden and Harry Fenn from IH Predators were given a chance to shine as they received touchdowns on offense and Brett Eden received an interception on defense.
The next game of the day was last ranking team IMS Killa Bzz vs highest ranking team HSM Vipers. Playing their best game of the season Ellen Rolle of IMS Killa Bzz found receivers like Monique Roberts and Jessica Jackson to advance the ball and to Roberts who received the touchdown for the team. Heather Thompson also stood out for the Killa Bzz playing both offense and defense sides with towering catches and exceptional tackles when needed most. Shock up, HSM Vipers did not give up and after getting back into their rhythm QB Lisa Malice found key receivers like Shenel Gall and Dionne Whittaker to help score and to eventually tie the game. On defense Alicia Dixon had multiple tackles and Renee Chisholm received an interception. The tight game went into overtime. Alicia Dixon of HSM Vipers received the touchdown which ended the game with a score of 12-6 in favor of HSM.
The last game of the day was between Kensington Hellcats vs Maples Knights. With both teams securing their spot in the semifinals both teams did their utmost best to not allow the other team to score. Hellcats who are currently in the third ranking position advanced the ball well on offense with the running back Jason Wong and receiver Kevin Maxwell. QB Jacob Ebanks found Kevin Maxwell in the end zone for a touchdown and Nick Bush kicked the ball for an extra point conversion. On defense Nick Bush also stood out with multiple sacks. QB Richard Campbell advanced the ball well on offense as he sought out receivers such as Seware Kangulu and Jordan Cacho. Cacho received the ball for a touchdown. On defense Kevin Solomon got an interception. The game ended in a close score of 7-6 in favor of Hellcats.
