Then there were two!

The Annex hosted two intense semi-final match-ups on 11 June to determine who will play for glory in the Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) senior men’s FA Cup. Both games needed extra time to decide the winners.
First up, Academy Sports Club and Sunset Football Club took to the pitch and after 21 minutes, Academy had the lead thanks to a goal from Clayton Forrest. With full-time nearing, Academy held the slim edge and were possibly thinking about who they’d prefer to meet in a week’s time but Sunset captain Tom Chipchase was in no mood to let them celebrate just yet, as hit the equaliser nine minutes from full time.
With no separating the teams after injury time, it was on to two extra-time periods. Yolande Plummer found the back of the net in the 115th minute and Romario Dixon shut the door six minutes later, with Academy supporters whipped into a frenzy.
It ended 3-1 for Academy SC and after a solid top-half finish in the 2016/17 Cayman Premier League campaign, the club has a shot at hardware.
Next up, this season’s Cayman Premier League champions, Bodden Town Football Club, had revenge on their minds as they faced last season’s league titlists, Scholars International, who beat them in the CIFA President’s Cup Final in March. Only one would advance to have a shot at another trophy.
Scholars took the lead in the 37th minute when Jamar Dickens scored but on the verge of halftime, Karl Solomon levelled for Bodden Town. In the 76th minute, Dickens again put his side out front but with defeat staring them in the face, the squad in purple got what they were looking for with Theron Wood’s goal in the 89th minute to ensure there would be extra time.
Ricoh Brown scored in the 110th minute to give Bodden Town the 3-2 win and on to the finals at the same venue a week later.
