Brown 7th at NACAC Championships
- Updated: 13 August 2018
Rasheem Brown finished seventh in the men’s 110m hurdles at the 2018 North America, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Senior Track and Field Championships in Toronto, Canada on Saturday, 11 August.
The 18-year-old had a good start and was pretty much even with the field through the first two hurdles but started to fall behind by the third jump. He then struggled to keep up as Jamaica’s Hansle Parchment led the field to the line in 13.28 seconds.
Aleec Harris of the United States won silver in 13.49 sec and Barbados’ Shane Brathwaite took bronze in 13.52 sec. Brown finished in 14.42 sec, matching the mark he ran in the semi-finals a day earlier to book a berth in the medal round.
The NACAC championships round out a relatively busy summer for the teenager, after competing at the IAAF U20 World Championships in Finland and the CAC Games in Colombia. He was Cayman’s only representative in Toronto.
Brown heads back to Milligan College in Tennessee, where he began his athletic career in January.
