Brown off to NACAC Championships
- Updated: 9 August 2018
Hurdler and sprinter Rasheem Brown will be the lone athlete representing the Cayman Islands at the 2018 North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Track and Field Championships in Toronto, Canada from 10-12 August.
Brown, 18, is slated to run the 100m and 110m hurdles at University of Toronto’s Varsity Stadium this weekend.
This will be his third championships representing the Cayman Islands in the past month, after the IAAF World Junior Championships in Finland and the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Colombia.
Brown was a semifinalist at the IAAF World Juniors after finishing third in his 110m hurdles heat with a time of 13.85 seconds but was considerably slower in the semi-final with 14.40 seconds and failed to advance to the final.
In Colombia, he contested both the flat sprint and the hurdles. Competing with the seniors, he did not advance from the semi-finals in the hurdles (14.97 sec) and also missed out on advancing from the heats in the 100m (10.89 sec).
He is preparing to return to Milligan College in Tennessee, where his launched his collegiate career with the Buffaloes earlier this year.
