Elite Women trounce Alliance FC
- Updated: 7 November 2016
Two goals apiece from Shanice Monteith and Shenel Gal propelled Elite SC Women to a 5-1 win over Alliance FC on 5 November to open the 2016-17 CIFA Women’s Premier League.
Monteith get the scoring going in the 10th minute, with Shenelle Frederick doubling the lead 13 minutes later. Elite led 2-0 at the half.
Nine minutes into the second half, national under-15 player Sabrina Suberan pulled Alliance within a goal but that would be as close as they would get. A minute later, Gall scored her first goal to give Elite a 3-1 lead before adding her second in the 64th.
Monteith scored for a second time in the 79th minute as the game ended 5-1 at the Annex.
Meantime in Bodden Town, Sunset FC and Scholars International met for a second time in as many weeks, following their tough battle in the Charity Shield on 30 October, which Sunset won 1-0 with a penalty kick.
This time around there was no separating the top two sides from last season. Rai Kalpana gave Sunset the lead in the 23rd minute but Jetena Bodden equalised in the 30th. The game was tied 1-1 at the intermission.
Ariella Smith put Scholars ahead seven minutes after play resumed, only to have Carly Dingham find the back of the net for Sunset four minutes later. The teams were unable to separate themselves for the rest of the game as it ended 2-2.
