Excitement abounds in youth leagues

Spectators witnessed yet another exciting day of youth football as the fifth round of games in the 2018 Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) youth leagues were played this past Saturday, 17 March.
In the Boy’s Under 11 league at the Annex Field, East End United FCs Derek Russell grabbed the day’s only hat trick as East End defeated Latinos FC B 6-0. Anthony Rankine, Lee Ebanks and Derek’s younger brother, Jayden, added one each in the one-sided win.
In other Under 11 games, Academy SC Stingrays defeated George Town SC 3-0 thanks to goals from Preston Duval, Sean Byles and Kyan Okoli.
Sunset Warriors’ Jaxon Cover was a constant menace for the 345 FC A defence as he scored two goals in a 4-2 victory. Charlie Ibister and Phin Ellison rounded off the scoring for the Sunset Warriors, while a Jaden Verhoeven double almost sparked a 345 comeback.
Future SC downed Bodden Town FC 4-0, with Jason Ebanks scoring two goals and Caleb Fredrick grabbing the third. A Bodden Town own goal resulted in the fourth and final goal for the boys from West Bay.
Latinos FC A and Academy SC Lionfish settled for a 1-1 draw with Latinos’ David Arch and Academy’s Kaleb Barboram getting their names on the scoresheet.
345 FC B continued their winning ways with a 3-1 win over Sunset Rockets. A Danny Lynne double and a solitary strike from Patrick Duggan was enough to see off the Rockets. Barry Evans scored Sunset’s goal.
In the Girl’s Under 13 games, Sunset FC and Academy SC thrilled the crowd with an entertaining 1-1 draw. Sunset’s Felicity Hughes opened the scoring for her club while Talia McMillen-Collette grabbed the equalizer for Academy SC.
Elite SC overcame George Town SC 2-0 thanks to goals from Raeanne Ebanks-Hydes and Madison Ebanks.
In the Boy’s Under 13 games played at the Annex Field, Academy SC Jaguars defeated Sunset Sharks 4-0 with Jahmar Campbell, Malcolm Hill, Lucas Tibbetts and Kai Hulse securing the victory and 345 FC downed Cayman Athletic SC 6-0 thanks to strikes from Toby Johns (2) Jaden Verhoeven, Danny Lynne, Paul Morineau and Dillon Phillips.
At the CIFA Centre of Excellence, Sunset Stingrays defeated Academy SC ESM 3-2.
The fifth round of youth games conclude with a Boy’s Under 15 game on Tuesday, 20 March, as Academy SC White face Cayman Athletic SC at 4:15 p.m. at the Annex Field and a second game on Wednesday, 21 March as Academy SC Blue take on Scholars International at 5:00 p.m. at the Ed Bush Field in West Bay.
In the Boy’s Under 17 league on Tuesday, 20 March, Bodden Town FC play Cayman Athletic SC at 4:00 p.m. at the CIFA Centre of Excellence and Future SC face Sunset FC at 5:00 p.m. at the Ed Bush Field.
In the Girl’s Under 15 league on Thursday, 22 March, George Town SC play Academy SC at 4:15 p.m. at the Annex Field and Elite SC go up against Sunset FC at 5:00 p.m. at the Ed Bush Field.
