Low-scoring Premier League Sunday
- Updated: 7 November 2016
It was a day short on goals with only two scores across four Cayman Premier League fixtures on Sunday, 6 November, 2016, as Academy SC and Scholars International were the only winners, while Elite SC and Bodden Town FC maintained their positions atop the table.
Elite SC are now unbeaten for more than a month, after a scoreless draw with Latinos FC at the Annex. Elite’s only loss so far was the season opener on 2 October against Bodden Town. Prior to their result against Latinos, the West Bay-based club won four in a row. This was Latinos third draw so far and had won two straight entering the Elite match-up.
Bodden Town FC kept pace with Elite, also fighting for a scoreless draw when they faced Roma United at Ed Bush Sports Complex. This was the first draw for Bodden Town, to go along with four wins and one loss, which came three weeks ago against Scholars International. Roma SC picked up their first point in four weeks, having lost the prior three weeks after starting the season with back-to-back wins.
Scholars International held on for a 1-0 victory over Sunset FC after Jamar Dickens put them ahead in the 38th minute. The two-time defending champions are now in third place, three points adrift of Elite and Bodden Town. Scholars has won three, lost two and had one draw. Sunset FC remains one spot from the bottom of the table after picking up their fourth loss. The club also has one win and one draw.
Academy Sports Club ensured Cayman Athletic remain cellar dwellers a quarter way through the season. Jonah Ebanks put one in the back of the net in the 24th minute as the only scorer in the 1-0 win for Academy, which picked up its third win to go along with three losses. With his tally, Ebanks is tied with Elite’s Raul Rodriguez as leading scorers with four goals each. Cayman Athletic have now lost for five consecutive weeks, having started the season positively with a 1-0 win over Latinos FC.
