Monday at the Island Games

The Cayman Islands picked up a pair of medals on the track and in the pool on Monday, 8 July at the XVIII NatWest International Island Games in Gibraltar.

Danneika Lyn won silver in the women’s 200m in athletics and Jordan Crooks earned a bronze in the men’s 50m backstroke swimming contest.

More medals are on the way. Marlene West and Cameron Stafford, the top seeds in the women’s and men’s squash singles are both through to finals on Tuesday to determine whether gold or silver will hang around their necks.

In tennis, several players progressed in singles, while both of Cayman’s women’s beach volleyball teams remain undefeated in group play.
